In the year 1810, Thomas Jefferson had a silversmith produce eight metal tumblers with a rounded bottom that he used at Monticello for the rest of his life. After his death, the cups were distributed by Martha Jefferson Randolph to six of her children and one grandchild. Six of the original cups survive today. Our solid pewter Jefferson cups and bowls are produced in the same style. Boardman uses only the finest and the heaviest of lead-free pewter. All pieces are hand polished by craftsmen using imported pumice and then hand buffed to either a flawless bright finish or satin finish. The bright finish is similar in appearance to polished sterling but does not require the same upkeep. They also are available in sterling silver.
In additional to a reproduction 8oz Jefferson Cup, Jefferson-cup style cordial, bowl, and punch bowl are available. Items can be monogrammed and personalized for a modest charge. Company logos also can be engraved. All of the pewter pieces are also available in sterling silver. Please contact the 125West Concierge for further information.
Please allow about seven days for delivery of Boardman Jefferson Cup or Bowl.
