The Contour body is constructed from valuable 18% nickel silver, which makes each piece much heavier than a similar piece in stainless steel. Thickness generally ranges from 1.5mm to 2.0mm, although some points go up to 5.0mm where exposed to shocks and strains. Bases, lids, spouts, and handles are made from hot pressed brass, while handles also contain a stainless steel insert for heat resistance. Welding of handles, knobs, hinges, necks, and bases is done by hand with silver alloy brazing. Hinges are cast from one piece with gauged holes and allow covers to open up to 145°. The spouts are specially designed to ensure easy pouring.

Each piece in our nickel-silver Contour holloware collection is electro-silverplated with a bright mirror polish finish by an exclusive Sambonet process known as HSSP (Hard Sambonet SilverPlating). HSSP adds a thick layer of 999.5 per mille silver that is twice as hard as traditional silverplating and up to four times more tarnish resistant.
