Raclette is a very traditional Swiss cheese meal. Its origins date back hundreds of years when shepherds would cut a wheel of cheese in half and place it in front of the fire. As the top layer began to melt and bubble, the raclette cheese would be scraped off onto a plate of potatoes and pickles. This delicacy is still enjoyed today using the tabletop electric Raclette. Using the non-stick raclette dishes, slices of cheese are placed under the heating element. When the raclette cheese begins to bubble, each dish is removed, and the cheese is poured and scraped with the spatula over the boiled potatoes and seasoned.
