Kennedy Presidential Rocker

This Carolina rocking chair is identical to the rocker purchased from the P & P Chair Company by President John F Kennedy for his personal use. President Kennedy first acquired the chair in 1955 when he was the Senator from Massachusetts. When President Kennedy moved to the White House, photographs appeared showing him in the Oval Office comfortably rocking while discussing world affairs. President Kennedy bought additional rockers for Camp David and the various Kennedy estates. He gave dozens of the rockers as gifts to friends and heads of state. The Kennedy Rocker, also known as the Carolina Rocker, features a particular design and solid construction that makes it especially comfortable for persons with tired and ailing backs. All wood components are solid oak. The rocker is shaped, steam-bent, and joined while still green to its tried and true design. The secret to the Kennedy Presidential Rocker's comfort is the perfectly planned steam-bent curve of the back posts that sweep in to give firm support to the sitter's back while carrying the weight downwards to the exact point on the rocker, where they contact the floor. The JKF Rocker is set low for comfortable elbow support with wide armrests for perfect balance. The detachable seat and back offer firmness and natural spring through the use of tightly woven rattan.

The Kennedy Rocker is available either in a village oak (shown above left) or natural oak finish (shown above right). For outdoor porch use we recommend the acrylic finish in white, black or green.
